Claude Monet's Water Lilies are a celebrated series of nearly 250 oil paintings, created between 1897 and 1926. They capture the delicate beauty of Monet's garden at Giverny, France, focusing on the water lilies floating on the surface of the pond, often framed by reflections of the sky and surrounding foliage. This series is a pivotal moment in art history, bridging Impressionism and Abstraction. The Water Lilies remain a timeless tribute to nature, a source of calm and inspiration for Monet.

Lorenz Stöer was a 16th-century German artist and mathematician renowned for his detailed works blending geometry, perspective, and fantastical landscapes. His work reflects the spirit of the Renaissance, which combined art and science to explore visual perception. In 1567, he published Geometria et Perspectiva, an illustrated book of woodcuts depicting complex polyhedra, perspective studies, and surreal landscapes. His compositions play with geometric forms in mysterious settings, often featuring checkerboard floors, arches, and abstract architectural elements. These images inspired later artistic movements and exemplify the alliance between mathematical rigor and creativity. We drew inspiration from this world to create this jacquard, with its monochrome rendering and almost industrial aesthetic.
